Maternity shoots are such special commissions for me. When first meeting over coffee to discuss the concept, or while shooting, I love hearing the soon-to-be-mother express the depth of the experience of pregnancy, the vast and sometimes hidden shifts in identity and all the uncertainty and surrender that comes with it.
I feel privileged that these women include me in such a vulnerable and sacred time. Each time, I come away with a deeper sense of awe, understanding and appreciation. And each time I’m inspired to create something meaningful and symbolic for that person. I feel compelled to create something unique, to celebrate this magical, divinely human and mythical time.
